Description
Not simply a house, more than a home, this property will be living experience. Designed around the theme of integrating nature into the home, the orientation of the house and selection of materials breaks away the boundaries between the inside and the outside, creating the experience of natural elements such as canyon walls and cascading water, combined with the iconic view of the Rockies and Flatirons.
Throughout the interior of the home, flagstone and slate floors are interwoven with natural bamboo flooring. Granite counter tops, complete with hand carved edges, emulate clear, cool river rocks blurred under passing streams. Each design element was created with the repeating theme of natural elements in mind, such as hand forged railings, floor vents, counter tops, nook ladder, stone main entry, natural flooring, and rain drop imagery upon the surface of the cabinets. In addition, you’ll also enjoy a main floor fire place to make your time with family and friends cozy and warm.
Each of the three bathrooms is surfaced in gleaming slate, with showers that are naturally enclosed with curved glass walls. Granite counter tops integrate the themes and shapes seen throughout the home. The master bath also offers a Japanese soaking tub filled by an artisan-crafted copper fixture, which pours water from above.
The master suite in particular, embodies every characteristic of a true living experience. The design permits air to flow from Boulder valley through the suite and master bath, finally arriving in the private out-door shower. Here you can enjoy the glint of the sunrise shining through water droplets as it cascades over your face. Whether by stars or candle light, in sun or surrounded by steaming melting snow, this outdoor shower will provide the sense of complete oneness with nature.
Originally designed and constructed by a sustainable engineer-architect, and improved upon since, the home is built to be energy efficient. It is well-insulated with the east side of the home built into the hillside, and the western and southern exposures facing the sun. All windows are treated with 3M Window Film to block up to 99% of harmful UV rays. Rainwater and outdoor shower water are redirected to the surrounding natural fields. An efficient pellet stove is the source of much of the home’s heat supplemented by a demand side electric base board heating system, which with the addition of a rooftop solar PV array, takes you off the grid for most of the year with a home renewable energy system.
Views of the Rockies are visible from three terraces: the master suite and its secluded garden and patio, the main living area with two decks, and the walk out patio from the lower family room. Your living experience will be enhanced by the exemplary view of soaring gliders and hot air balloons drifting over Sombrero Marsh where birds and other wildlife migrate. You and your family will measure the seasons of your living experience with the delights of the sunrises and sunsets of every season.
